What to expect
From the first call to the last bill
No surprises is mostly a matter of writing things down. Here's what you'll have in hand at each step.
- 01
Step 1: A call or a text
Tell us how many windows and roughly how old the house is. A photo helps.
- 02
Step 2: The site visit
Rosie looks at each window, probes the wood and counts panes. She asks the year the house was built.
- 03
Step 3: The written estimate
Hours by person, materials, anything left out, and when sashes will leave the house.
- 04
Step 4: The work
Windows are done a few at a time, so a room is never open overnight.
- 05
Step 5: The cleaning check
Every day ends with a vacuum and a wipe-down, and a look at the work area together if you like.
- 06
Step 6: The bill
Hours by person and materials, matching the estimate line for line, with any change explained.
The year
Outside in the warm months, in the shop in the cold ones
- Spring to fall
Exterior work
Casings, sills, brackets and porch trim, on dry days when the temperature allows the paint to cure.
- Late fall to spring
Shop work
Sashes come out and are restored at the shop while the house keeps its storms or a temporary panel.
- Year round
Booking
Exterior jobs book up for the summer. A visit in winter gets you on the list.
Before we start
Do I need to be home?
For the site visit, yes. For shop work, someone should be there when the sashes come out and when they go back in.
What will the room look like while you work?
Plastic on the floor and a temporary panel in the opening. We clean at the end of each day.
When do I pay?
Payment terms are on the estimate. The bill lists hours by person and materials.
Start with a visit
A photo by text is enough to get a visit on the calendar.
